LA Watts Summer Games

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Registration
Teams that have submitted a registration form and a check will be entered into the tournament on a first-come, first-served basis. A team will not be admitted into the tournament if the registration form is received without payment, and will be put on a waiting list until payment is received by the LAJCC office.

Eligibility
Students must be currently enrolled in your school. Eighth graders/incoming freshmen and graduating seniors are not eligible, with the exception of the cheerleading competition.

Confirmation
A packet of specific information (dates, times, and locations) will be mailed to you two weeks prior to your event.

Rules
The L.A. Watts Summer Games uses standard high school rules unless otherwise specified (see Sports page).

Regulations
The Games are endorsed by the L.A. City and Southern Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), therefore each school's admission is also subject to CIF review and approval.
• Athletes and/or coaches may wear the name of the school on a uniform or jersey when competing.
• A coach or other school official must be present at the time of competition. Athletes may not participate without an authorized school representative. A parent is not considered an authorized school official.

Payment
The fee must accompany the completed registration form. Make checks payable to LAJCC. Fees are non-refundable once your team/participant has been admitted into the tournament. If you do not submit payment prior to the date of your first game, bring a check or cash with you. We can not accept credit cards at the venues. Failure to pay by game time may result in forfeit. Our ability to collect the nominal tournament fee is directly related to the quality of tournament we can offer. Please help us maintain the benefits we provide to students - it is sincerely appreciated.

Equipment
It is the responsibility of each team to bring their own equipment (bats, balls, etc.) as in all other competitions. Back up equipment will be available for sports with greater equipment needs such as baseball and tennis.

Food and Beverage
Available for purchase at main venue. Water will be provided to athletes.

Check-In Procedures
Coaches must check in each day at the specific sports registration table 30 minutes prior to their team's scheduled game time to pick up tournament information and complete a team roster.

Late Arrivals
Teams who arrive 15 minutes after their scheduled game time forfeit that game to the opposing team. If the team contacts the sports chair within 30 minutes of their scheduled play time and has a valid reason for being delayed, LAWSG personnel will determine if they are allowed to make up the missed game.

Forfeits
LAWSG must be notified at least one (1) week prior to game day if team not going to play. Teams who regularly forfeit will be subject to registration restrictions and/or exclusion from future LAWSG.

Sportsmanship
To further enhance our partnership with the Character Counts! and Victory With Honor programs, coaches are now required to sign a code of conduct agreement to participate in the Games. Failure to sign this document and adhere to its policies will result in forfeit of games and/or exclusion from future LAWSG.

T-shirt pick up
1. Turn in a completed roster at your sports check-in tent when you sign-in for the day.
2. After playing the first game, take the roster to the t-shirt tent and exchange it for your team’s t-shirts.

Injury Procedures
Minor injuries will be handled by event staff. Major injuries will be handled by medical staff at main venues or by calling 911 at satellite sites. AMR Ambulance service will be on-site at the main site. Incident reports will be completed for every injury.
*LAWSG medical staff can not provide tape for prexisting injuries.

Awards
Awards will only be presented at each respective awards ceremony. We cannot award medals/trophies early. With some exceptions, the following awards will be presented: 1st place team trophy, MVP trophy, Sportsmanship Award, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place team medals.

Officials
To improve the quality of the tournament, we are asking that each coach provide the names and contact information of at least two referees who would be willing to volunteer at the Games. Click here to refer a referee. L.A. Watts Summer Games Management supports all officials’ decisions. Disputes and sanctions are handled by CIF.
